pate writes: "Thanks to more hard work by Paul Poulain and his band of french hackers (and thanks to the support of the Nelsonville Public Library), Koha is continuing to improve. The big step this time is the release of Koha 1.3.3, a development release of the branch destined to become Koha 2.0. This release features many bug fixes, improvements to MARC handling, and French, Spanish, and Polish translations (not yet complete but hey, this *is* a development release.) This will be the last 1.3.X release. The next schedule release will be 1.9.0 marking feature completion for the 2.0.0 release."

This release features many improvments in MARC management from 1.3.1; acquisition.simple now works; you can upload marc files in a breeding farm; for ISBN/ISSN search in the acquisition screen, with the "New biblio" option and the biblio is in the breeding farm, it's automatically retrieved and can be modified; installer now install marc21 in english or unimarc in french datas; marc parameters complete documentation.
If the 2.0 release sounds exciting to you and you've got some MARC, Perl, or HTML background, please consider jumping in and helping with 2.0 development. There are opportunities for people of all skill levels.

Koha-1.3.0

Pate writes: "Koha 1.3.0 has been released. This release marks the beginning of public development and testing of the MARC compliant Koha we've been Looking forward to. As the 1.3 releases stabilize and reach feature completion, they will become Koha 1.4. This is an alpha quality release only. If you are want to use Koha in a production setting, please stick with the stable 1.2 release until the 1.3 series stabilizes enough for us to create Koha 1.4.0. Significant new features in this release include: data is stored natively in a MARC based format; multiple flavors of MARC are supported; enhanced API supports both the new MARC format and the older Koha specific format. From a users perspective, this release should look just like a 1.2 series release. All of the work so far has been in redesigning the data format and extending the API. User visible changes will be included once the infrastructure has stabilized."

A Fistful of Koha

Pat writes: "The Nelsonville Public Library, which serves 36,000 active borrowers from seven branches, is migrating to Koha. Their one year migration plan includes an investment in Koha development. More information can be found at www.linuxpr.com/releases/5053.html.

Because of growing efforts with Koha in France, a french language koha mailing list has been started. You can subscribe at koha-subscribe@fr.koha.org.

A similar level of interest has developed in Germany, and a german language mailing list has also been created. Again, to subscribe send mail to koha-subscribe@de.koha.org.

For more information about Koha, please see the Koha homepage."

Many people have combined in testing this release, and we expect it to be the best Koha yet! you'll like what you see. We plan on continuing to improve Koha, and would love to have you come along on this exciting journey. As always, downloads and more information are available from: sf.net/projects/koha/." Pat writes: "The Koha project has released version 1.2.0 of Koha, its library system. This release features many bugfixes and a great deal of new functionality. Due to the new installer script and changes in the file layout, this should be the easiest Koha to install or upgrade."

PhpMyLibrary-1.0.4b

Tagged:

Polerio writes: "PhpMyLibrary is a PHP/MySQL Web based library automation application. The program consists of cataloging (for handling adding/editing/deleting/searching of materials), circulation (so the librarian can handle user related management items), and the webpac module (where the World searches the catalog of your library). The program also has an import export feature, and strictly follows the USMARC standard for adding materials.

Changes: This version now contains the Cataloging module, which lets a librarian add, edit, and delete catalog entries. It can also modify or delete existing imported catalog entries. A Holdings module was also added, enabling a librarian to add, edit, and delete accession numbers of specific materials. The Record Import module was enhanced so that it can import a library's existing ISIS files. The JavaScript in the WebPAC module has been enhanced."
