RefDB has changed a lot since the last mention of it here. From the latest release news on fm:

"The PHP Web interface supports live links for keywords, authors, and periodicals which are displayed as "tag clouds". Automatic format detection from local files is done, and has a type-sensitive form for editing data. RefDB implements all SRU operations (explain, searchRetrieve, scan) with MODS output, and conforms to CQL Level 2. Namespaced XML output allows processing of schema-based TEI P5 and DocBook V.5.0 documents. Raw bibliographies were added. Searching for and styling of less-common fields was improved."

The source, perl client, and sru support code are attached.

From fm: "A bug that caused too many temporary image files to be written was fixed. Searching for multiple ISBN values using z39.50 was fixed. A layout bug for paragraphs in the Fancy template was fixed. IBS searches now reverse the author name. "Xbox 360" was added to the Amazon.com game searches. Deleting and re-adding a field by the same name no longer crashes. Default fields are no longer recreated when adding search results. The Spanish translation wasu pdated."

Anyone know if this can be built on OSX?

Michael wrote in that "Bibdesk is a Mac OS X bibtex database GUI. Plans for its future include networked access and searching and support for other file formats." Interesting addition of RSS features, too.

from pyblio: "What's new? Improved Medline Query interface, added incremental search capability, small UI improvements, small fixes in the BibTeX and ISI format. You can get the source at the usual places."

from the gBib site: "gBib is a user-friendly editor and browser for BibTeX databases. You can use it also to insert citations inside a LyX document." Written in C++ w/STL, which makes it unique among the existing citation managers, but lots of feature overlap.

Gordon writes: "Greenstone 2.30 introduces new import plugins (for source code, postscript, Refer and BibTex), updates many existing ones and tidies up the third-party GPLed packages. The admin page has new functionality, and the configuration options have been extended to enhance logging now off by default) and error notification. Development continues on windows (stability) and phrase browsing (integration). Many bugs were fixed - but many remain."

from pybliographer-list: "it should now compile with python 2.0, 1.6, 1.5.x; I fixed a bug when converting some characters (like angstr�m) to bibtex; it is now possible to define custom key generators, so that you can have emacs-like keys for example." for more see the pyblio site.

Refer accepts %F fields thanks to Martin Wilck), and the graphical interface (saving of columns widths in the index window, scrollbar in the edition window for people having small screens, better behavior of the selection after editing). ."
