pymarc is a python MARC handling library that's been around for a while but hasn't been written up here before. You can download it from pypi or easy_install it too, and if you want to hack on it you can grab it from LaunchPad using bazaar.

PyCatalog is another app that's been mentioned here before but doesn't have a local tarball cache. The last version I can find on sourceforge is 1.3, which has these release notes.

From the writeup on the home page: "pyCatalog is a Python, MySQL, wxPython, Reportlab application specifically usable in library and information centers. It simply produces book catalog and card catalog in pdf format rendered using reportlab. The program takes MARC file as its source data. pyCatalog - is a combination of Python, wxPython, Reportlab, and python-mysql application that renders Book and Card Catalog."

Tellico is another one that's seen steady improvements since the last post about it here. The latest version is 1.3.5, and release notes for this and prior releases are on the project's home page, which also highlights the variety of binary distros available.

Evergreen has also seen several updates since the last post here. Here's the rundown on changes in 1.4 and point releases since then, the latest of which is 1.4.0.4.

Copies of the server bundle, windows staff client, and OpenSRF corresponding to this latest release are attached.

Koha has also had some big releases since last mention here. The full story on Koha 3 is here, and the latest release is Koha 3.0.1, with lots of bugfixes and improvements.

Not a lot of details are given on the project page, but not a lot are necessary: "This module allow you to import MARC records as nodes, to do things like pre-populating book review sites or even recreating your library's catalog in a rich social environment."

From the google code site: "Solrmarc can index your marc records into apache solr. It also comes with an improved version of marc4j that improves handling of UTF-8 characters, is more forgiving of malformed marc data, and can recover from data errors gracefully. This indexer is used by blacklight and vufind but it can also be used as a standalone project."

The rails-based Blacklight OPAC has released major and minor upgrades since it was last mentioned here. Latest code and plugin attached here, but see their news site for the latest and all the related docs, or the rubyforge page for the latest dev details.

Note: the main tarball is too big to list automatically below but is available here at blacklight-2.1.tgz.

As seen at Rubyforge: Blacklight is "a next generation library catalog written in ruby, using solr as the underlying search engine. All you have to do is export your marc records, index them with the scripts provided, start up ruby on rails, and you're on your way to faceted browsing bliss."

As seen on drupal.org: "This module provides a way to map data in the MARC record to Drupal content types and import sets of MARC records. The module currently supports mapping to the default node fields, taxonomy fields and CCK text fields... By importing a library's MARC records directly in to Drupal as nodes, you can easily recreate your library's catalog in a rich social environment."

Very cool to see something like this pop up into another popular CMS (Scriblio being the prior example).
